A well-built steering wheel can be the difference between a good and a great one. But you need to find a good steering wheel without having to break the bank.

Over the past few years, I’ve used my fair share of steering wheels which have shaped me into the gamer I am today which were all under $200.

It’s important to pick a steering will that suits you as a gamer so you feel more immersed and part of the gameplay which I think is the most important aspect.

In this article I’ll be going through the best PSVR steering wheels you can get today and my two top picks for whatever circumstance you’re in.

G29 From Logitech – The Best Steering Wheel For Beginners

From my personal experience, if you’re just starting out in PSVR gaming, then I’d say that the G29 from Logitech is your best bet when it comes to an all-rounded wheel.

This was the wheel I started out with and it has shaped my gaming experience to what it is today. It was reliable and did what I expected it to do.

The modern wheels today come with extra jargon that doesn’t really add to the PSVR experience so rather than trying to figure all this stuff out, (especially if you don’t know what it means), just purchase a wheel that comes with a simple interface so you can focus on your gameplay instead.

Coming in at around $300 from Amazon, this a steal considering that this is well build wheel for under the price of $400.

If you don’t have a desk or a stand to put the wheel on, then a cheaper option you can go for would be the DIWANGUS Steering Wheel stand which is a reliable stand most gamers go for.

If you want a more premium stand and chair, then you can get the more expensive Playseat Challenge which will give you the more immersive experience you’re looking for.

Thrustmaster T300S GT Edition – Best Steering Wheel For GT7

If you play a lot of games like Gran Turismo 7, this Thrustmaster t300s GT edition will be the best purchase for you.

Specifically designed for such games and licensed by Gran Turismo, you get a more customer wheel to some of the most popular PSVR games.

The pricing for this wheel is in the intermediate range and would be more suitable for more seasoned gamers who have been playing PSVR for over a year.

With a 1080 Degree Force Feedback racing wheel, you’ll feel the wheel fighting back more when you face tougher terrain, which will provide you with a more intensive immersion.

This sets it apart from most gaming wheels as the Thrustmaster focuses on imitating real racing rather than gameplay racing.

Thrustmaster t150

When it comes to Force Feedback steering which I mentioned above, the Thrustmaster t150 would be the cheapest wheels to come with this feature.

If you want full immersion at a fraction of the closet, then these beginner-friendly wheels should be at the top of your list.

If you are going to purchase these then you may want to also get the T-CLM pedals as a lot of users don’t seem to like the pedals it comes with. This is just me being transparent.

If pedals are something you don’t seem to focus on and instead, you just care about the steering and handling, then this Thrustmaster would be a purchase you won’t regret.

Having a wheel that lasts for over 5 years is something that is uncommon to see in these newer wheels but you can rest assured that this t150 will outlast all the others on the market.

Thrustmaster TGT2

In terms of the holy grail of steering wheels in the PSVR world, Thrustmaster TGT 2 would come out number one. Suitable for advanced and well-seasoned simulator racing players, the TGT 2 comes with every feature you can imagine.

However, this is shown in the price coming in at $800. As a PSVR player for years, id say that this is a justified price. I do currently own one of these and I have no complaints thus far.

I’d say they’re the closest thing to real-world driving in the PSVR world. One of the main things users notice with the wheel is its high-quality leather finish.

A smooth wheel that grips well will be the difference between a high-quality intense race and a mediocr one.

With 25 action buttons, you won’t run out of interesting features for this purchase. To top it all off, it’s also specifically accustomed to games like Grand Turismo 7.

Hori Racing Wheel Apex – Designed For PlayStation

The Hori Racing Wheel Apex is one known for its affordability coming in at under $200 with some cheaper options under $160 depending on if you don’t mind it being delivered at a later date.

While you may expect quality to be abandoned due to its lower price point, the Hori uploads high-quality steering without making you feel like you’ve made a huge compromise.

With 270 degrees of rotation, you’ll have the ability to turn wherever you like in the crux of a highly intense race.

The main stand-out feature of this one is that it’s specially designed for PlayStation. So you won’t have to worry about a tedious setup and annoying compatibility restrictions.

Be sure to have the freedom you’re expecting when playing GT7.

Again, because it’s designed for PlayStation, you get access to all the usual Dualshock buttons to assist you in navigating Hori’s exhaustive list of settings.

Thrustmaster T80 Ferrari 488 GTB

The PXN Racing Wheel makes it onto this list due to affordability. Coming at around $100, it will be your best bet when it comes to an affordable racing wheel.

Although it’s hard to compare to something like a Logitech, it will do its job in providing you with a racing experience that is worthwhile.

If you do know that you’ll be able to afford a Logitech or Thrustmaster in the future, then this wheel will suffice for now, or you can hold off until you’re able to afford something more robust.

I would say that if you’re able to add an extra $100 onto your budget, then a Logitech would make sense as you’d see why in my top picks down below.

My Top Pick

My top pick would have to be the Logitech G29 because of its affordability and its all-around usability

The Thrustmaster T300S GT Edition would come in at a close second because of its high quality and focus on immersion. It also works well in that it doesn’t break the bank.

The Logitch G29 is what I started out with and it shaped how I compare steering wheels today.

If a new steering wheel is too easy on the handling, I’ll always think back to my old Logitech and remember how it never abandoned me when making those sharp turns.

Conclusion

Finding the right steering wheel setup is crucial to maximize enjoyment and realism in PSVR racing games.

The Logitech G29 provides an unbeatable value for entry-level players, with strong force feedback and quality construction at an affordable sub-$300 price point.

More advanced gamers seeking high-fidelity simulation will appreciate the Gran Turismo-licensed Thrustmaster T300RS GT edition, which accurately mimics real track racing.

And for those seeking the pinnacle, the $800 Thrustmaster TGT 2 offers unmatched features and components like leather grips and metal pedals.

Ultimately, choosing the best PSVR-compatible racing wheel comes down to your budget, dedication to VR racing, and desired features.

But no matter your level, an immersive, responsive wheel can transform the experience.
