With its realistic physics and ruthless fighting mechanics, VR fans have wondered if Hellsplit will be released on the standalone Oculus Quest 2 headset.

A good reason it hasn’t so far is because of its graphics and how this may not be compatible with an Oculus device.

This article will cover the current status of a Hellsplit, whether it’s on the Quest VR headsets, speculate on potential performance issues blocking this from happening yet, and recommend Hellsplit alternatives like Swordsman VR and Blade & Sorcery to play in the meantime.

Is Hellsplit Arena on Oculus Quest 2?

Since the game was announced, everyone has asked if they could play it on Oculus Quest 2. There is so much hype because there are few games that are VR and immersive.

The game is about an undead warrior who is fighting undead soldiers in hell and at the end of each level fights the boss. The game mechanics are really good for this new VR industry.

The game is available on Steam and can be played on Steam VR gear. As of now, the game is not available on Oculus Quest 2.

You can try connecting your Oculus Quest with your PC using the new feature called Oculus Link. It allows you to stream games on your PC but you can try if Hellsplit works using this method.

Is Hellsplit Arena on Oculus Quest 2?

For now, it has not been announced by the developer if it will be available for Oculus Quest 2 but one can hope.

The main reason it is available on Steam and they are using it to push their own hardware devices like the Steam deck and the VR headset.

In the future, the game manufacturers might launch a version for the Oculus as well.

In the meantime, you can check out these epic games that are good for Oculus Quest 2 including Swordsman VR, Blade & Sorcery, Battle Talent, Demeo, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, and Pistol Whip among others.

There are a lot of options out there that you can play until any update from Hellsplit.

Hellsplit Arena Oculus Quest 2 Release Date

As of now, there are no updates regarding the release of Hellsplit Arena on Oculus Quest 2 By Meta or by the developers of the game. The real question is if the Oculus can run the game if it is available.

The reason behind this speculation is that the game is very graphics-intensive and that’s why everyone with an Oculus wants to experience such impressive graphics.

We know that the Oculus might not be able to perform well with such intensive graphics.

To get a good performance out of the Oculus the image resolution will have to be set lower and that is bad for the players because they wouldn’t get the immersive experience that they are looking for in a VR game.

For now, all we can speculate is that they will announce the release soon and they will make the game compatible with Oculus Quest 2.

Where Can I Play Hellsplit Arena?

Hellsplit Arena is available on the Steam. You can go to their store buy it and start playing. To play you have to use the Steam VR gear because it is compatible with it.

To use Steam it’s either your PC or a virtual desktop. For a Virtual desktop, you should have a good wifi connection for smooth and seamless performance.

As of now, Hellsplit Arena is only available on Steam, and a lot of people with different devices like the Oculus Quest 2 are speculating that there will be a release soon for them as well.

But there have been no updates by Meta or the developers of the game. I don’t think they will release it for Oculus devices anytime soon but you can try other games similar to Hellsplit Arena available for Oculus Quest 2

Games Similar To Hellsplit Arena On Quest 2

There are a lot of games similar to Hellsplit Arena that you can play on Oculus Quest 2. These are the top 3 games that you can play on Meta Quest platforms.

Swordsman VR

Swordsman VR is a really good VR game available on the Meta Quest 2 platform. Initially released on Sep 25, 2020. Similar to Hellsplit Arena this game is off the same gener a realistic sword-fighting game.

In this game, you can customize your warrior, battle different factions in epic arenas, and defeat powerful enemies to unlock their special boss weapons on your journey to save the world from evil.

Blade & Sorcery

Blade & Sorcery is built exclusively for VR. This game is everything you want from a VR game and it is very immersive.

They have put in small details in the game that make it so realistic and enjoyable like fine hitboxes dictate collisions, objects have weight and follow the laws of physics, creatures have full body physics and presence, and blades can penetrate soft materials or deflect magic.

In Blade & Sorcery, the combat is limited only by your creativity.

Choose your weapon, stance, and fighting style; Be the powerful warrior, ranger, or sorcerer you always dreamed of becoming! This game will be a great addition to your Oculus Quest console.

Battle Talent

Battle Talent is a great game to add to this list as well. It is known for its challenging physics-based roguelite sword-fighting game.

If you are tired of fighting boring enemies that lack creativity? Battle Talent has got you covered it has created for you a mega seamless procedural dungeon with over 80 enemy variants, 100 weapons, 60 perks, and multiple landscapes that change each time.

You won’t get bored by this game quickly and it is a replayable game that will feel fresh every time you play it.

My Final Thoughts

While Hellsplit: Arena remains confined to PC VR and has yet to be ported to the Quest platform, the game’s visually striking aesthetic and intensely visceral combat have sparked high demand. Based on technical constraints, a Quest release seems uncertain in the near future.

But plenty of sword-based VR games with similar graphics are available now on Quest 2, like Swordsman VR, Blade & Sorcery, and Battle Talent.

And by using Oculus Link to connect a gaming PC, Quest users can immediately access Hellsplit and join the fight against the demonic hordes.

So don’t despair Quest owners – with other game alternatives, you should have a similar experience as if you were playing HellSplit Arena.

The Oculus Link gives you the ability to adjust image resolution width to further enhance visual fidelity in these PC-powered titles.

In this article, I’ll be talking through what encoding resolution width is on the Link, how to find and change this setting through the Oculus Debug Tool, and explain other graphics variables like bitrate and sharpening.

By changing these settings, Quest users can manipulate their VR visuals making them enjoy a higher resolution image while playing their favourite games.

How to Encode Resolution Width Oculus Link

Yes, we can now change the resolution width of the Oculus link. This was previously impossible, but this feature is newly introduced for advanced users.

This will allow users to manually change the settings using the Oculus link including increasing the image resolution. This will help in a more immersive experience by providing a clearer picture of Oculus Quest.

Oculus link is a new feature introduced by Meta for offline Facebook Oculus headset Quest. The main purpose of Oculus Link is to work as a Virtual Reality headset for your PC.

You can set up this system using a high-quality USB 3.0. This feature is currently in the beta stage and you can try it for yourself.

There is no need to worry about any kind of risk. There have been no complaints about any issues regarding the performance of the device. In case any issue arises you can always revert to your original settings.

Encode Resolution Width Oculus Link Meaning

Before we go into other stuff, you must understand what the encode resolution width with Oculus Link is. In easy terms, it is a new feature that allows you to use your Oculus headset with your PC.

What it does is that it connects your PC with the headset and now you can experience what you are streaming on your VR Oculus Quest.

This allows you to adjust the image resolution to your liking.

How to Encode Resolution Width Oculus Link

It’s not that difficult to do. Just follow these steps and you will be good to go. Before you start make sure your Oculus Quest is plugged in.

1. Locate and open your hard drive file on the PC.

2. There you will find the Program file and locate Oculus and click on that.

3. There click on the debug tool.

4. Next, click on the support.

5. Enable diagnostic by clicking on it.

6. There you will come across oculusdebugtool.exe. Double Click on that file and you will get a popup.

7. There is a row with the label “encode resolution width”

8. Do this step only if you are using Airlink ”Write 2880 next to the encode resolution width”

9. Do this step only if you are using Cable Link ”Write 3680 next to the encode resolution width”

10. After this go to the toolbar on top there you will find services click on it.

11. Click on “restart Oculus service” from the options.

If you are successful a pop-up will appear which will load the change you made.

This worked for me and it will probably work for you as well. If it isn’t make sure to double-check that you have all the steps.

Use The Oculus Debug Tool to Change Image Quality

You can easily change the image quality using the Oculus link. You can put in whatever resolution that suits your device.

Just go to the Oculus debug tool and follow the steps that I have previously mentioned in this article.

The quality of the image you will get depends on multiple factors including Rendering Resolution, Distortion Curvature, Encode Resolution Width, Bitrate, and Link Sharpening. This is how these factors affect image quality.

Rendering Resolution:

Adjusting the rendering resolution to a higher setting will get you a detailed and crisp visual experience, but it may also cause your computer to require more processing power.

Distortion Curvature:

Adjusting this your image will be more visually clear and it will also remove most of the warping at the edges of the screen.

Encode Resolution Width:

Adjusting the encode resolution width to a higher one might require more system resources but it will make the quality a whole lot better when sharing or recording gaming.

Bitrate:

Adjusting the Bitrate to a higher setting will give you higher-quality images, but they will put a lot of strain on your device and as a result, can also harm performance.

Link Sharpening:

Link Sharpening is when you use Oculus Link, this feature allows you to connect an Oculus Quest headset to a PC. Doing so you will have the images appear sharper.

Encode Bitrate

Encoding Bitrate is done to balance out the Visual quality and the performance for a smoother experience. Higher the bitrate there will be less degradation.

It will affect your VR performance while you are streaming, recording, or sharing.

Adjusting the Bitrate to a higher setting will give you higher-quality images, but they will put a lot of strain on your device and as a result, can also harm performance.

To encode bitrate follow these steps:

7. Type 350.3 next to the Encode Bitrate.

Link Sharpening

This is the new feature in v33 that enables you to connect your Oculus headset to the PC. Adjusting this will make your images sharper resulting in an immersive experience.

To set Link sharpening follow step by step.

1. Locate and open your hard drive file on the PC.

2. There you will find the Program file.

3. Locate Oculus and click on that.

4. There click on the debug tool.

5. Next, click on the support.

6. Enable diagnostic by clicking on it.

7. There you will come across oculusdebugtool.exe.

8. Double Click on that file and you will get a popup.

9. Locate Link Sharpening and select Enable from the options.

After doing that put in these credentials as they are mentioned “90 Hz with 1.5 max resolution 5408 X 2736. 2”

Make sure the link sharpening is enabled or this won’t work. After you follow these steps you can go and check the changes will be implemented.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Oculus Link’s encoding resolution width lets Quest users manually set image sharpness when playing PC VR games.

Adjusting this and other encoding factors like bitrate and sharpening through the Debug Tool allows visual optimization based on your PC hardware. Just be mindful of maximum display settings to avoid instability.

Fine-tuning these graphics allows Quest owners to experience top-tier PC-quality VR visuals from the Oculus library.

So if you want to push your VR gaming to the next level visually, tweak encoding settings to revel in truly immersive, high-res VR worlds.

The Meta Quest previously known as the Oculus Quest was rebranded by Meta in 2022. The Oculus Quest 2 was launched in 2020 and it is based on Android source code.

But with any device, having the right charger and charging practices is key to keeping it powered up. So what wattage charger does the Quest 2 require and how can you charge it properly?

This article will cover the ideal charger wattage for optimal Quest 2 charging, whether higher wattages cause issues, the charging time with standard adapters, and tips for replacing damaged charger components.

By the end, you should know the kind of chargers you should be using and what kind of chargers you should be avoiding.

Oculus Quest 2 Charger Wattage?

The Oculus Quest 2 comes with a 10-watt charger out of the box. These are the standard chargers which run at 5 volts and 2 amps.

You could use another charger too if you want to.

We recommend that you use a 10 watt charger that it came with but you can use other 10 watt chargers as well. Make sure they are of good quality.

This means if you use a charger with higher wattage, that won’t affect its charging speed. Mainly because the device doesn’t support faster charging than that.

So I recommend you use the charger that comes with the device. But if you have lost yours or have damaged it you can always use a USB charger with minimum requirements of 5 volts, 2 amperes, and 10 watts.

A charger with these specs will take 2 hours to fully charge your Oculus from 0%.

How Much Wattage Do I Need?

The recommended wattage is 10 watts but the minimum wattage you need to charge Oculus Quest 2 is 5 watts.

At this wattage, you will be just fine and ready to hook up your device to the charger. Anything above this minimum wattage of 5w will speed up your charging time.

But keep in mind that the circuitry of the device is designed for 10 watts max and increasing the wattage above 10w will affect the charging speed.

Just make sure to use a charger with a wattage between 5 watts and 10 watts. Anything below 5 watts won’t charge your device.

What Happens If I Use Higher Watts?

As previously discussed the recommended charger for your device is 10 watts. You could use a potent adapter to charge your device but it serves no purpose to your device.

There might be negative effects of using a higher-wattage adapter.

But if you use it always make sure to disconnect the charger just before the battery reaches 100%.

If you overcharge your device using an adapter of higher wattage, there is a chance of permanent damage to your battery.

To avoid such circumstances and increase the life of your device make sure you use the recommended 10-watt charger.

If a 10 watt charger is not available you can use any charger with wattage above 5 watts. Using a charger with lower wattage than 10w will increase charging time but it will charge the device.

Using a charger with a higher wattage than 10w will have no effect on charging speed but it might harm your battery and also affect the device’s performance.

Should I Use a Charger With a Higher Wattage?

We recommend only using 10W as this is what the Oculus can handle. Any more and you run into the risk of damaging the batter over a long period of time.

Using a charger with higher wattage than the recommended 10 watts might increase your charging speed, but it can cause irreplaceable damage to the Lithium component of the battery.

If your original battery is damaged your device might not work as it did before. Make sure you replace the battery with the original one that the manufacturer recommends.

You will be able to find the original batteries of Oculus on Craig’s list. You can also source the batteries from other damaged Oculus that people are selling online.

Replacing the damaged battery with the original one will give you the best performance out of the device.

What Charger to Use For the Quest 2?

If you have damaged the wire, you lost it or your pet chewed it. You can always use a USB type c 3.0 with the original headset or adapter and you are good to go.

There is no need to buy a whole charger for little damage to the wire or adapter.

Type c chargers look different to USB charger. The port is much smaller so they should be easier to spot.

These things are replaceable and you might not find the original because the company only sells it with the device. If you are lucky you might find someone selling online on other marketplaces.

If you don’t find one it doesn’t matter just find a good quality USB C 3.0 adapter. It will work just as the original one.

There are plenty of good quality USB type c 3.0 in the market. These alternatives will be as good as the original ones in quality and performance.

Just make sure their output is 5 volts, 2 amps. As long as you have these specs it will work just fine.

How Fast Will 10W Charge My Quest 2

The Oculus Quest 2 comes with a 10-watt charger. We recommend that you use that but you can use other chargers as well as long as their wattage is above 5w.

The standard 10w charger that comes with the Oculus Quest 2 will take 2 to 3 hours to charge your device from 0% to 100%.

If you use a charge with less wattage that time will increase indefinitely. In the same way, if you use a charger with higher wattage than the standard 10w, it might decrease the charging time of the device.

There is also a risk involved in not using the recommended 10-watt charger, in the long run it can affect your battery and damage the lithium component of the battery.

So you are better off using the 10w charger for a longer life of your device.

To charge the Oculus Quest 2 you need a 10-watt charger which runs on 5 volts and 2 amps.

As long as your adapter has these specs you don’t need to worry about anything. Any alternatives to these specs have been discussed in the article.

Wattage to Charge Other Oculus devices

Now that we have discuseed how much energy is needed to charge your Quest 2, its worth noting how this comapres to teher Oculus device.

Now with the recent introduction of the Quest 3, Oculus has came out and said that it needs 18W to fully charge the device.

This is almost double what it would take to charge the Quest 2. This seems to be because of the new features of the Quest 3. Such as things like a better battery and larger FOV etc.

However, the Quest 1 device also comes with the same watts required to charge it which is 18. You would think that you would need much less, however, the Quest 1 was one of its kind.

It most likley required more compononents that were less optmised and much larger. This obiulsy requires more energy input to run it.

You can use any charger whichever device comes with to charge your Quest 2. It may not charge it optimilaly, but this wont damamge your device in any sense of the word.

My Final Thoughts

In closing, to safely provide power to the Meta/Oculus Quest 2, use the included 10W (5V/2A) USB-C charger or an equivalent third-party model.

While lower wattages will charge slower and higher wattages risk gradual battery damage, 10W strikes the ideal balance of charge speed and safety.

Using things like a PC to charge your Oculus will slow down charging time and will not deliver as high of a wattage as what you would need to fully charge it within its normal charging timeframe.

Expect full recharges from empty to take around 2-3 hours on the stock charger. Be mindful to replace any damaged charging cables or adapters with equivalents meeting the 5V/2A/10W specification.

Following these charging guidelines will keep your Quest 2 battery and headset functioning optimally for the long term.

The post Does Quest 3 Have Screen Door Effect? appeared first on VR Chase.

The Oculus Quest 3 is the latest virtual reality headset from Meta, offering a whole host of improvements including a new and better display.

One common question between people who are thinking of getting the Quest 3, and those who have it is whether or not it comes with the screen door effect.

No, the Quest 3 does not come with the screen door effect, however, you may still be able to see the pixels on your screen due to its new high-quality display.

In this article, I’ll be covering what exactly SDE is, explaining in detail why some users might still see pixelation on the Quest 3, and comparing other devices with no SDE.

I’ll also be explaining in detail, what the screen door effect is and how many people get it confused.

Does Quest 3 Have Screen Door Effect?

No, the Quest 3 doesn’t have SDE (Screen door effect) since this was confirmed by the Meta users themselves, however many users still say they are experiencing it.

This is different compared to other models like the Quest 2 which did come with a noticeable SDE, however, it hasn’t really been that big of a problem when it comes to Quest devices in general.

Since the Quest 3 does come with a better display quality, users will be able to see the screen indetail which will include them seeing pixels.

Many of those users will then mistake this for SDE when it, in fact, isn’t, you’re just able to see people due to there being a higher resolution.

Why Can I Still See the Screen Door Effect

If you are still seeing the Screen Door Effect, it is just because of the resolution. This isn’t exactly bad, you are just able to see more of the screen due to better picture quality.

This makes things less blurry and more detailed compared to the Quest 2.

With a higher Field of View than the Quest 2, you’re also seeing more of the screen which will result in you noticing more minute details such as this one.

You will also have to keep in mind that SDE may occur on certain games even if the device itself doesn’t come with this display deficit.

Games that come with a certain effect, have outdated graphics, or are just not that compatible with the Quest 3 may appear to be more pixelated due to there being worse graphics and image quality.

You can’t then, however, mistake this for the Screen Door effect. If you are seeing the Screen Door Effect on your Quest 3, it would be wise to blame it on the game and not the headset.

These are just how certain games are designed. To confirm this, you can just compare different games and have a look at how their screen quality differs.

Games like Dungeons of Eternity do show a lot of pixels during gameplay due to the outdated graphics. This isn’t what you call SDE, it’s just the design of the game.

So keep this in mind when you want to get rid of your Oculus.

What Actually is The Screen Door Effect?

Many people actually wonder what the screen door effect is. A big misconception is that it’s about seeing pixels. It’s not just about the pixels, it’s the hidden spaces between them that make a grid-like pattern.

This effect makes the view a bit fuzzy and blurry, making it difficult to concentrate on the game. It’s just a digital mesh, creating a visual gridlock in a digital world.

So, the difference between that you can see the gaps between the pixels. This can disrupt a lot of users during gameplay and make it difficult to focus on the game.

With the Quest 3, you can see the pixels on your screen with certain games, however, this is just due to the high quality.

You won’t be able to see all those tiny little annoying gaps between each pixel which causes you to lose concentration.

VR Devices With No Screen Door Effect

If you’re fed up with your device giving you the Screen Door Effect, don’t worry, there are still some devices that come with no screen door effect.

The devices down below take the lead in making strides to get rid of this annoying screen defect.

The Samsung Odyssey

The Anti-SDE diffuser used in the Samsung Odyssey + makes the display look a bit softer. The Field of View is similar to the Valve Index despite technical differences.

It offers good colors with an OLED Screen, but the audio is not as strong. Inside-out tracking makes setup easier.

You can adjust it according to your eyes, but it is not made anymore, usually, it’s only available second hand.

HP Reverb G1

The HB Reverb G1 has the same resolution as G2. Unlike the Samsung Odyssey, the colors are not great due to the LCD screen. In terms of audio, it runs at 90 Hz.

Setup is easy with inside-out tracking, but there is no adjustment to your eyes. This headset was replaced by G2.

HP Reverb G2

With better display and bright colors, HP Reverb G2 has the same resolution as G1. The Field of View is bigger than Oculus but smaller than Odyssey+ and Valex Index.

The audio runs at 90 Hz. Easy setup with Inside-out tracking and adjustable to eyes. These are available for pre-order.

My Final Thoughts

The Oculus Quest 3 has made major changes to stop the screen door effect from occurring since it has plagued most VR devices in recent years.

By removing the grid-like gaps between pixels, the Quest 3 provides more immersive, uninterrupted views into virtual environments, rather than a fuzzy boxy screen which reduces gameplay quality.

You may still notice some plication due to the high-resolution display from the Quest 3 since you will be able to see finer details but this wouldn’t be classed as an SDE effect.

You will notice the higher resolution screen rather than fixating on the smaller pixels.

Despite the high-quality display, the Quest 3 will be a stand-alone device that displays minimal SDE while offering a high-quality display.

The post Meta 8 Digit Device Code Issues? The Fix! appeared first on VR Chase.

]]>
If you’re having issues entering the 8-digit code to link your Meta/Oculus device then you’re in the right place.

Many users have been having no luck when entering this 8-digit code due to a bug that has resulted in preventing users from fully setting up their meta accounts, locking them out from games and content.

Fortunately, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to fix the annoyance

In this article, I’ll be covering the reasons for this error, showing you where to actually go to put in the code, and things to do if nothing is working when you enter the code. You will resolve this issue by the time you finish reading it.

Why is www Meta com/device Code Not Working?

The main reason you can’t enter the 8-digit code is because of a glitch with your device. For whatever reason, a bug has been going around which causes an error whenever a user tries entering the code.

Meta still hasn’t gotten around to fixing this problem which has annoyed a lot of users considering this issue has been happening for over a year now, around the time Facebook changed its parent company name to Meta.

There are a few things that cause such errors but you first need to make sure the software on your devices is running smoothly and that can only be done by resetting and restarting your device.

If none of these options work then you just have to wait until Meta fixes this problem which could potentially take another few months depending on how many Meta users report the issue which I will be showing you how to do later on in this article.

What’s The Code For?

Facebook migrated old accounts to meta accounts seeing that it’s technically a new company. This code allows you to finish setting up your meta account. Once you have done this, you can disconnect it from Facebook.

This change stops you from losing everything in the event that your Facebook account is banned.

To put it simply, if your Facebook account was banned, deleted or just randomly disappeared, you will still have all of your Oculus stuff since the two don’t rely on each other.

Where Do I Enter The Code?

A lot of users seem to be confused as to where they actually put in a code since they aren’t given anywhere to put it in when instructed to do so.

You will need to put it into this Meta authentication page. First, you want to click on the continue with Facebook option to log in with the new meta account.

Once you have logged in successfully, you will be taken to the accountscenter.meta.com. From here, remove your Facebook account from this Accounts Centre

If you are told to create a new meta account then click on the authentication link again and click Log in with Email. Make sure to use the email address associated with your Meta and Oculus accounts.

If you don’t know what email address you use then you will have to contact support which I will show you how to do towards the end of the article.

Once you have logged in with your previous account, go to this page https://accountscenter.meta.com/connected_experiences/single_sign_on and add your Facebook account to this Accounts Centre.

Restart Your Headset

If you have been trying to put in the 8-digit code, you aren’t receiving it or nothing is working, then you should consider restarting your headset.

The software within your headset could be causing glitching problems which may be why your code isn’t working. You don’t lose any important information by just restarting your headset.

In order to restart your headset, you will need to:

 1. Press and hold the power button on the right-hand side of your headset till you see the Power off screen
 2. Now Press on the Restart option. Your headset will go off and then back on

If this didn’t work then try this:

 1. Press and hold the power button for at least 10 seconds. This will turn off your headset manually
 2. Allow for 30 seconds.
 3. Press and hold the power button until your headset turns back on.

Once you have done all of this, you should try using your VR again and see if any problems arise.

Log Out of All Sessions

Another reason you could be having problems with your Meta account is that there are too many sessions running on your account.

This can cause conflicts when you’re trying to set up your Meta account which will stop you from doing it successfully.

The best thing to do is to check how many sessions you’re logged into and log out of all of them. This can be done in your security settings.

 • 1. Go to auth.meta.com/settings/security/
 • 2. Click LOG OUT OF ALL SESSIONS.
 • 3. In your headset, a device code screen should appear.
 • 4. Follow the prompts on your screen to enter your device code. After you log back in, your device should restart

This will remove all of the accounts you’re logged into and leave the one you’re currently using.

Factory Reset

If you are willing to do this then you will fix the problem for good, however, what most people worry about with this solution is that all their data will be wiped from their headsets.

Now if you aren’t worried about that then you’re all good to go. However, if you aren’t, then you will need to save it somewhere and there are a multitude of ways to do this.

Bare in mind if you do go through with resetting your headset, all data will be wiped. You will still have access to purchase through your meta account.

To factory reset using your phone:

 1. Open the Meta Quest app on your mobile device.
 2. Click Menu then select the Devices option.
 3. Choose the headset connected to your phone.
 4. Press Headset settings, then click Advanced settings.
 5. Select Factory reset, then Reset.

To perform a factory reset using the headset:

 1. Make sure your headset is turned off.
 2. At the same time, hold the power and volume buttons until the boot screen loads up
 3. Use the volume buttons to navigate to Factory Reset and then click the power button.
 4. Use the volume button to highlight Yes and click the power button.

Re-Add the Account

If it’s one account you’re having trouble with in relation to the 8-digit code, then I would recommend that you remove the account and then add it back to your device.

To do this, you will need to hover over the clock icon in your menu in order to access Quick Settings. Now press on it to open Quick Settings

Press on Settings in the top right corner, then tap Accounts.

Click on Remove next to whichever account you want to remove, then select Remove again to confirm.

You can e add this account again in settings by going into Settings and then selecting Add Account.

Contact Meta Store Support

If you’re still having issues with getting this 8-digit code to work then you will have to contact Meta Support. Once you land on this page you will need to do the following things.

 1. You need to scroll down and click on Account under “Tell us what is happening”
 2. Next, click on App or Service since this is a Meta account-related issue
 3. Select Meta Account FAQ
 4. Scroll all the way down and click on the blue Contact Support button
 5. From here, put in all of your details and click on “Start Chat with Agent”
 6. From here, let your support representative know what is going on in detail
meta support chat

After this, your ticket will be submitted and you should hear back from them within a few hours. They may refer you to what’s already in this article, however, if you have a specific then this may help you a bit more.

My Final Thoughts

In summary, the 8-digit Meta device code is necessary for completing account setups in order to use your Oculus normally and your Meta accounts fully.

However, software glitches may block entering this code and prevent access.

By restarting and factory resetting the device, and contacting Meta support if needed, you can get around this issue pretty easily. It’s only a matter of keeping all of your data once you reset your device.

Using all the solutions provided, you should be able to fully restore your account and hopefully, get the 8-digit code to work. This will allow you to use your accounts normally again.

If you don’t want to reset your device then you will just have to wait for Facebook to resolve the issue.

The more you can see on your VR the better right? Well, you’re in luck. Today we’ll be discussing the field of View of the Valve index by Vive.

FOV has been a popular interest amongst the VR community as it’s a hot top especially since most models these days come with many good features.

The FOV is commonly used as a be-all and end-all decider on whether or not to pick a headset out of the rest.

The FOV of the Valve Index comes in higher than most models in the market, however, Vice hasn’t come out with an explicit number on what the FOV is, so we’ll have to do a bit of guesswork.

In this article, I’ll be going through what the FOV is on the Valve Index things you can do to change it, how it compares to other devices, and what this means for the Valve Index.

What is the FOV on The Valve Index?

The Valve index comes with a Field of view which prevents users from seeing the entire screen. The FOV means that users can only see within the angles of 130 degrees.

Vive hasn’t come out and explicitly said what the FOV of the Valve is, but we can make an accurate assessment based on a few metrics Vive and other close sources have given to us.

In general, Vive has listed its devices as having a FOV of 108.8 degrees on its own website. To get another comparison, OpenVR reported Vive’s horizontal Field of view to be 108 degrees.

Vive’s frequent users have measured Vive’s horizontal FOV to be 110 degrees. From these figures listed, we can come to a confident conclusion that Vives combed horizontal FOV comes in at 110 degrees.

The Valve Index website says that the Valve Index has a 20-degree FOV higher than the HTC Vive.

From this, we can conclude that the Valve Index has a FOV of 130°.

Unfortunately, we can’t give you exact figures as Vive hasn’t given any unambiguous number on what the FOV of the Index actually is these numbers can be taken as the next best thing we have.

What is The Fov Exactly?

The FOV which stands for Field of View is the amount of screen a user can see or perceive on a virtual reality headset.

The field of view is what users use to measure how much real estate they will be getting out of a particular headset.

The idea is that the FOV is how much you can see from the center of the headset to either your left or right side. The more you can see each side, the higher the field of view will be.

Sometimes the field of view can be stated as high on a headset, but when you come around to using it it, it feels like any old VR headset.

This can be because of the distance from your eyes to the screen and if it has been increased in any way.

Later on in this article, I’ll be showing you how to increase the FOV without doing anything jailbreaking or anything related.

Index Valve FOV Compared to Others

The Index Valve does come with one other the largest FOVs in the VR market. The only headset where you can beat this is the Pimax

The Pimax comes in with a Fov of 160 degrees on a larger headset, 1400 degrees on a medium headset, and 130 degrees on a small headset.

Even though these are huge differences, the Valve Index beats out these other headsets when it comes to the Field of View.

As you can see, you’ll be getting a higher FOV on the valve compared to its counterparts. This would be a good incentive to opt in and purchase one.

However, if FOV isn’t something you’re bothered about, we could argue that there are better alternatives to the Index.

What Does The Index FOV Look Like?

The field of view on the Vlave looks like the Field of view on any other VR Headset, just a bit wider.

This means that you can see just a bit more out of your peripheral than you can on other headsets.

index valve fov illustration

This is what the FOV on the valve index looks like during gameplay.

As you can probably, see, this illustration doesn’t do it just, but it doesn’t provide a fair representation of the amount of screen real exteste you will be able to see on the index.

You won’t be able to see anything else apart from what’s actually on the screen. It’s similar to putting on skiing or swimming goggles.

There will be no black edges apart from what you usually see when looking out of your eyes.

There won’t be a line in the middle separating your two eyes and whichever game you’re playing. It will be one screen view, just like how you usually see from your eyes in general.

Can You Change the Fov Valve Index?

Yes, you can change the FOV on the Index using a few tricks that allow you to see more of the screen and more out of your peripheral vision.

Unfortunately, you can’t change the set FOV given by the manufacturer, of course, you can change a few settings here and there, and move a few things about, but there will always be a set limit you can increase it to before you hit a ceiling.

In this case, the manufacturer sets the FOV and not you. This is because most VR headsets are made to fit the position of your eyes and hand.

If you mess around with the Field of View a bit too much, these calibrations can become distorted.

The only real way you can avoid this is if you change the position of your eyes and head which won’t really be possible. Below, I’ll show you a few things you can do to manipulate the FOV on your Valve Index.

How to Change FOV on The Index Valve?

There are a few things you can do to change the FOV so you are allowed to see more of the screen and more out of your peripheral vision.

This method does improve gameplay as you’d have an advantage over other players.

Keep in mind that you can change the FOV on some of Vives’ headsets, however down below, here are ways that are less complicated that will do the job.

Decrease The Face Pad

A good way to change the FOV on your valve without having to change any settings or get complicated is to decrease the face pad on the headset.

This has reportedly given some users an extra 10 degrees in horizontal FOV. This, unfortunately, can result in less comfortable gameplay and there isn’t something softening the material of the headset against your face.

This invertedly decreases the distance between the headset screen and your eyes. However, this can also put some more strain on your eyes as it is closer to the screen.

Get Mods

You can go the more expensive route and purchase mods which will also achieve a similar or more enhanced result.

What this does is it changes the components on the headset so they are a bit smaller. It will also replace the strap you usually use that comes on the headset.

Change the IPD

Another thing you can do that increases the FOV is the IPD settings on your Valve.

Conclusion

The Valve Index offers the second widest fields of view among consumer VR headsets currently on the market. With an estimated 130° diagonal FOV, it beats out competitors in the VR world

While other headsets have larger FOV options available, the Valve Index provides an excellent combination of wide FOV, visual clarity, tracking fidelity, ergonomics, and moddability at a reasonable price point for enthusiast VR gamers.

Users report an immersive, naturalistic view in VR through the Valve Index that covers nearly the entire range of human peripheral vision.

There obviously are limits to human vision, but the Valve does its best to imitate real-world vision. This expanded FOV, versus more narrow competitors, allows for greater environmental awareness, visual realism, and embodied presence inside virtual worlds.

Even though the FOV is unspecified by the manufacturer, we can use clues as to what they have given us to come out with an educated answer.

Seeing one of your Valve Index base stations blinking red can raise some alarms that something is wrong with the hardware.

But while a blinking red light typically indicates your base station is not working properly or needs an update, the issue may be resolved with some diligent troubleshooting.

This guide will break down the common reasons for a blinking red base station light and actionable solutions to get your hardware fully operational again.

Why is My index Base Station Blinking Red?

There are a few reasons why your base station would blink red. If it’s blinking red then it’s an indication that the valve index base station has encountered an error.

Most users refer to this as KIA meaning Killed in Action. This essentially means that it’s not working properly anymore and you will need to RMA it which I will be getting into down below.

Another reason your valve index is blinking is that it needs updating. When it’s waiting for an update, it will indicate this to you by flashing.

Check Power Connections For All Base Stations

One common reason you could be having trouble with your base station is that the connections to your base stations are causing it to work incorrectly.

There are a few things you need to check with the connections to make sure that this isn’t what is causing the problem.

The first thing I would try doing is unplugging all connections to your base station, waiting for a few seconds, and then connecting them back again.

If that doesn’t do the trick, make sure your Base Stations are pointed at your play area and are visible to you.

Sometimes, when they aren’t facing your play area, your devices may find it hard to track the station if they can’t detect the sensors.

Check For An Update

The blinking red light sometimes means the base station is waiting for an update. If you don’t update the device regularly then this is more likely to be the reason.

To avoid this, you can check for updates on your device.

To Update the Base Station:

 1. Go to SteamVR.com from your computer.
 2. If you see an icon with “i”, mouse over it to check if your firmware is outdated.
 3. If it is, click Update Device.
 4. Unplug your base stations from their power adapters.
 5. Now connect the base station to your USB power adapter.
 6. While pressing the channel button at the back, connect the base station to your computer
 7. Once the base station has been detected by SteamVR, the firmware should start updating.

Check The Firmware

Do not attempt this unless your base stations have been having this issue for a while and it does not; seem like it’ll be resolved anytime soon.

The steps below essentially fix the current firmware you have on the device and then update it to a new firmware.

1. While your Base Station is turned off, connect it using a micro-B USB cable to your PC.

2. Press the mode button and plug in the power lead.

3. Let go of the button once it’s mentioned as a USB mass storage device.

4. The drive you’re looking for is called “CRP_DISABLED” and has the “firmware.bin” file. Delete it.

5. Copy over onto the drive the “lighthouse_tx_htc_2_0-calibration-rescue-244.bin” file.

6. When this copy has been completed, remove the power lead.

7. Now give it a few seconds until you plug the power lead back in again.

It should start flashing green or red. Green means it succeeded.

If it is flashing red that means it means that this didn’t work correctly. Unplug the power again and try steps 1 to 7 but use this firmware file “lighthouse_tx_htc_2_0-244-2016-03-12.bin” instead of the rescue one.

It should be working correctly now. You can confirm by setting its mode to “A” and tracking with it alone. Once this has been done you can start using your other base again.

Restart SteamVR

Restarting SteamVR is a good way to troubleshoot existing problems such as this one. If you’re still having issues with the base station then check if SteamVR is having problems.

Restart SteamVR by closing it, unplug the Power and USB cords, wait for a few seconds then plug all the cords back in.

Once you have done this, check if the station is still blinking.

Replace Your Base Station

If you can’t seem to fix the problem, you need to replace the base station. The red light generally means that it’s not working properly.

This is much easier than going through a lot of troubleshooting steps to find that they don’t work anyway. If you do manage to fix the issue eventually then this isn’t necessary.

Once you have a new base station, if it does end up having the same issue again, you can always return it within the next 30 days.

These returns are also free so you won’t have to give it a second thought. With your new station, it’s recommended that you update it regularly and use the cables it came with rather than third-party cables.

Start an RMA With Steam

If you don’t know what an RMA is, it means Return Merchandise Action. It’s a Process Steam has to return items users aren’t satisfied with or want to return.

Since a blinking base station means that it’s not functioning properly, instead of going through the trouble of troubleshooting it, you could just return the item and get a new one.

A blinking red light is difficult to resolve, so if you have tried contacting Steam and haven’t heard back or have tried the recommendations they have given and the ones in the article, then this would be your best bet.

You can do this by going through Steam Support. Follow the prompts and select which hardware product you’re having trouble with.

Contact Steam Support

You can contact SteamVR if you haven’t been able to get rid of this problem.

Because the Valve Index isn’t a widely used VR headset, only Steam support specialists would have experience in operating the system and knowing what causing issues like blinking and so forth.

I recommend that you submit a support ticket. This gives you the opportunity to explain the specific issue you’re having and what have already done to try and get rid of it.

They will be able to assess the problem and use their past experience to tell you what the next steps are via email.

Go to this SteamVR support page here and click on Contact SteamVR. From here, just log in and follow the steps.

Conclusion

While a blinking red base station light commonly means you need it replaced, the problem is often fixable through measures like checking wired connections, updating firmware, restarting SteamVR software, or replacing defective hardware.

If issues persist even after troubleshooting, initiating an RMA via Steam Support can secure you a replacement free of charge. This means that you’ll get a brand-new base station without having to pay again.

So don’t panic and declare your base station KIA just yet – some systematic steps can usually resuscitate it even when the issue has been persisting longer.

Just be prepared to request an exchange if hardware replacement ends up needed.

A well-built steering wheel can be the difference between a good and a great one. But you need to find a good steering wheel without having to break the bank.

Over the past few years, I’ve used my fair share of steering wheels which have shaped me into the gamer I am today which were all under $200.

It’s important to pick a steering will that suits you as a gamer so you feel more immersed and part of the gameplay which I think is the most important aspect.

In this article I’ll be going through the best PSVR steering wheels you can get today and my two top picks for whatever circumstance you’re in.

G29 From Logitech – The Best Steering Wheel For Beginners

From my personal experience, if you’re just starting out in PSVR gaming, then I’d say that the G29 from Logitech is your best bet when it comes to an all-rounded wheel.

This was the wheel I started out with and it has shaped my gaming experience to what it is today. It was reliable and did what I expected it to do.

The modern wheels today come with extra jargon that doesn’t really add to the PSVR experience so rather than trying to figure all this stuff out, (especially if you don’t know what it means), just purchase a wheel that comes with a simple interface so you can focus on your gameplay instead.

Coming in at around $300 from Amazon, this a steal considering that this is well build wheel for under the price of $400.

If you don’t have a desk or a stand to put the wheel on, then a cheaper option you can go for would be the DIWANGUS Steering Wheel stand which is a reliable stand most gamers go for.

If you want a more premium stand and chair, then you can get the more expensive Playseat Challenge which will give you the more immersive experience you’re looking for.

Thrustmaster T300S GT Edition – Best Steering Wheel For GT7

If you play a lot of games like Gran Turismo 7, this Thrustmaster t300s GT edition will be the best purchase for you.

Specifically designed for such games and licensed by Gran Turismo, you get a more customer wheel to some of the most popular PSVR games.

The pricing for this wheel is in the intermediate range and would be more suitable for more seasoned gamers who have been playing PSVR for over a year.

With a 1080 Degree Force Feedback racing wheel, you’ll feel the wheel fighting back more when you face tougher terrain, which will provide you with a more intensive immersion.

This sets it apart from most gaming wheels as the Thrustmaster focuses on imitating real racing rather than gameplay racing.

Thrustmaster t150

When it comes to Force Feedback steering which I mentioned above, the Thrustmaster t150 would be the cheapest wheels to come with this feature.

If you want full immersion at a fraction of the closet, then these beginner-friendly wheels should be at the top of your list.

If you are going to purchase these then you may want to also get the T-CLM pedals as a lot of users don’t seem to like the pedals it comes with. This is just me being transparent.

If pedals are something you don’t seem to focus on and instead, you just care about the steering and handling, then this Thrustmaster would be a purchase you won’t regret.

Having a wheel that lasts for over 5 years is something that is uncommon to see in these newer wheels but you can rest assured that this t150 will outlast all the others on the market.

Thrustmaster TGT2

In terms of the holy grail of steering wheels in the PSVR world, Thrustmaster TGT 2 would come out number one. Suitable for advanced and well-seasoned simulator racing players, the TGT 2 comes with every feature you can imagine.

However, this is shown in the price coming in at $800. As a PSVR player for years, id say that this is a justified price. I do currently own one of these and I have no complaints thus far.

I’d say they’re the closest thing to real-world driving in the PSVR world. One of the main things users notice with the wheel is its high-quality leather finish.

A smooth wheel that grips well will be the difference between a high-quality intense race and a mediocr one.

With 25 action buttons, you won’t run out of interesting features for this purchase. To top it all off, it’s also specifically accustomed to games like Grand Turismo 7.

Hori Racing Wheel Apex – Designed For PlayStation

The Hori Racing Wheel Apex is one known for its affordability coming in at under $200 with some cheaper options under $160 depending on if you don’t mind it being delivered at a later date.

While you may expect quality to be abandoned due to its lower price point, the Hori uploads high-quality steering without making you feel like you’ve made a huge compromise.

With 270 degrees of rotation, you’ll have the ability to turn wherever you like in the crux of a highly intense race.

The main stand-out feature of this one is that it’s specially designed for PlayStation. So you won’t have to worry about a tedious setup and annoying compatibility restrictions.

Be sure to have the freedom you’re expecting when playing GT7.

Again, because it’s designed for PlayStation, you get access to all the usual Dualshock buttons to assist you in navigating Hori’s exhaustive list of settings.

Thrustmaster T80 Ferrari 488 GTB

The PXN Racing Wheel makes it onto this list due to affordability. Coming at around $100, it will be your best bet when it comes to an affordable racing wheel.

Although it’s hard to compare to something like a Logitech, it will do its job in providing you with a racing experience that is worthwhile.

If you do know that you’ll be able to afford a Logitech or Thrustmaster in the future, then this wheel will suffice for now, or you can hold off until you’re able to afford something more robust.

I would say that if you’re able to add an extra $100 onto your budget, then a Logitech would make sense as you’d see why in my top picks down below.

My Top Pick

My top pick would have to be the Logitech G29 because of its affordability and its all-around usability

The Thrustmaster T300S GT Edition would come in at a close second because of its high quality and focus on immersion. It also works well in that it doesn’t break the bank.

The Logitch G29 is what I started out with and it shaped how I compare steering wheels today.

If a new steering wheel is too easy on the handling, I’ll always think back to my old Logitech and remember how it never abandoned me when making those sharp turns.

Conclusion

Finding the right steering wheel setup is crucial to maximize enjoyment and realism in PSVR racing games.

The Logitech G29 provides an unbeatable value for entry-level players, with strong force feedback and quality construction at an affordable sub-$300 price point.

More advanced gamers seeking high-fidelity simulation will appreciate the Gran Turismo-licensed Thrustmaster T300RS GT edition, which accurately mimics real track racing.

And for those seeking the pinnacle, the $800 Thrustmaster TGT 2 offers unmatched features and components like leather grips and metal pedals.

Ultimately, choosing the best PSVR-compatible racing wheel comes down to your budget, dedication to VR racing, and desired features.

But no matter your level, an immersive, responsive wheel can transform the experience.

Seeing the “Oops! Nothing to show here HDSLVC2” error on your Oculus headset can understandably raise some questions and concerns.

This issue typically arises when users are trying to connect to the store and is usually caused by account syncing problems, WiFi connectivity failures, or software bugs preventing proper functionality.

While frustrating, the error can often be resolved with some common solution that fix most errors on the Oculus device.

In this article, I’ll be explaining why you’re seeing the HDSLVC2 code and actionable solutions to get your Oculus back up and running, ranging from account management to factory resets.

Why is Oculus Saying HDSLVC2?

There are various reasons why your Oculus Quest 2 or Quest 1 is showing the error code hdslvc2. The main reason this happens is because of Facebook syncing account issues.

If your Facebook accounts aren’t synced properly then you will experience this problem in most cases. Another reason you may be seeing this error code is because of wifi connection problems.

If you’re Oculus app isn’t connected to a good wifi signal, it may have trouble working properly hence why you’re seeing the hdslvc2 error.

Headset syncing issues could also be the culprit as to why you’re seeing this error code. You will need to try a few solutions which include syncing your accounts properly in order to fix this problem.

Sync Accounts Properly

If your accounts aren’t synced properly then you will need to make sure you fix this issue first before you go onto the next solution.

Since Facebook recently introduced Meta, Facebook users have had to switch to Meta systems rather than just the normal Facebook app.

Because of the introduction of a new name, synchronization account issues arose between Oculus users and Meta Horizon accounts.

The first thing that would help is to remove all of the accounts on your device. This can be done by going to settings and then into accounts. Once you have done this you will want to re-add them.

Now all that’s left to do is to sync your accounts. On the mobile app, open the Oculus app menu > settings >”Your account” (the last) > profile > your name > horizon > sync.

Factory Reset

This is the only method that gets rid of this problem once and for all. This is because it basically resets your Oculus device to the first time you had it.

Wiiing all the data on your device is the best way to get over most software errors. An error like this can easily be overcome by a factory reset.

This method basically gets rid of anything that could be causing the error in the first place. It will definitely fix your problem, but it’s not the best go-to solution.

Bear in mind that you will wipe all the data on your headset since you’re basically resetting to the point where you first purchased it.

If you don’t want to lose all of your data then

To Factory Reset Your Oculus:

 1. Open the Oculus app on your phone.
 2. Click Devices in the bottom menu.
 3. Choose the headset connected to your phone.
 4. Select Advanced Settings.
 5. Click on Factory Reset
 6. Press Reset.

Finish Headset Setup

A lot of the time, you may be seeing g this error code because of a headset syncing issue. When you haven’t set up your headset properly, your Oulsu will not be able to work properly.

A lot of people don’t seem to have finished this part of the setting after getting their Oculus which is why they experience problems like this error code later down the line.

To do this, you will need to open the Meta Oculus App on your phone.

From here, you want to go under Device > Turn on your Meta Quest 2 headset, and then in the app, select “Finish Headset Setup”.

Once you have done this, you should stop seeing this really annoying error code.

ReConnect Your Headset to WiFi

One of the main reasons I mentioned previously as to why you may be seeing this error code was because of a wifi problem.

If your Oculus headset isn’t connected to a good stable wifi connection then you may be presented with this code.

Oculus does not always need internet in order to be used but if you want access to some of its features like the store then an internet connection is needed. This issue usually arises when users are trying to connect to the store.

Before you do this you will need to make sure that your Oculus is connected to your phone via the mobile app.

To Connect Your Headset to WiFi:

 • Tap Menu at the bottom
 • Click on Devices
 • Tap the headset you are currently using.
 • Under Headset settings, click on Wi-Fi.
 • Choose the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to and put in the password.

Try a Mobile Hotspot

Alternatively, you can always try using your mobile hotspot instead of using a wifi connection. A lot of users have reported that this troubleshooting method seemed to do the trick for them.

It could be that your wifi connection still isn’t good enough for your oculus and therefore, your mobile data was what did the trick.

If you have tried connecting to the store and you’re still seeing the HDSLVC2 error then switch to your a mobile hotspot.

Perform a Software Update

Error codes can often be a result of outdated software on your Oculus. If you haven’t updated the software on your device then this could be one of the reasons why it’s not working.

When you don’t update the software on your Meta Quest, it allows bugs to infiltrate your device hence why you may be having problems like this.

These updates are designed to patch these vulnerabilities so you don’t continually experience these bugs and glitches.

To Check For a Software Update:

 1. Press on the Meta button on your right touch controller
 2. Select Quick Settings, when it appears to open the Quick Settings panel by hovering over the clock Icon.
 3. Press on the Settings Icon in the top right corner
 4. Tap Systems, then Software Update to check for an update.

Contact Oculus Support

if you have tried all of the solutions and nothing seems to be working for you then your next best bet is to contact Oculus support.

They will be able to guide you on all of the things I have mentioned in this article. They will also be able to advise you on what to do since they deal with this on a day-to-day basis.

In order to contact support, you will need to visit the Oculus support website. From here you will need to start a live chat and connect yourself to an agent.

Once you have done this, you will need to explain in detail what you’re seeing on your device. In this case, explain that you keep seeing the error code hdslvc2.

My Final Thoughts

In most cases, the HDSLVC2 Oculus error stems from accounts and devices falling out of sync or software bugs.

By double-checking account connections, resetting and setting up your headset from scratch, ensuring stable WiFi, and keeping firmware updated, you can usually resolve the problem for good.

And if issues continue, Oculus’ support team can provide tailored troubleshooting advice.

With some persistence, you should be able to get rid of the error so you can use your device hassle-free.

The no command error occurs whenever users try to boot up their Oculus device. You’re usually presented with the classic Android bot and a message saying “No Command”.

Seeing the “No Command” error when trying to start up your Meta Quest headset shouldn’t cause panic as it’s usually harmless.

This ambiguous message is usually the result of a glitch or software bug preventing the device from booting up properly.

Thankfully, there are several troubleshooting steps you can take to get your Oculus back up and running.

In this article, I’m going to show you how you can get rid of the display message and get your Oculus to work properly again.

Why is Meta Quest Saying No Command?

There are a few reasons why your meta quest device is displaying a “No Command” screen. The most common reason would be a glitch.

Because this display is not meant to show up when your Oculus is working properly, it would be considered a glitch since this is not what Oculus developers intended.

These sorts of glitches are caused by bugs which are usually down to outdated software.

Other reasons why you’re seeing the No Command error are because of other apps installed on your device.

These other apps can cause conflicts and may not be compatible with your device. Especially if they’re from unknown sources.

Perform a Hard Reboot

One of the best ways to get around this problem is to hold on to the power button on your Oculus for 10 seconds. This will hard reboot your Oculus which will reset its software and get rid of this problem in most cases.

The power button is located on the side of your headset. This is the only button you should press to perform the reboot.

Rebooting the Oculus temporarily resets it to stop any glitches currently ongoing on the device. You won’t lose any important information that is on the device.

This is different than doing a hard reset which completely wipes everything on your device.

Hard rebooting is a better way to force-stop glitches that are currently happening. Just turning it off is a step below this. which I’ll show you how to do down below.

Wait For a Second

A lot of the time all you need to do is wait for the Oculus to do its own thing and it will get out of the No COmmand screen by itself.

This may be because the headset is showing this screen for a reason, and all it needs is a bit of time until it comes out of there alone.

It could just be that you’re not meant to do anything at all and all you have to do is wait a minute or two until you’re headset is working fine again.

So if I were you instead of going onto the next few methods, I would just wait for up to 3 minutes. If nothing else has changed with your device, then go on to the next few solutions.

Turn Off the Headset

This is similar to a reboot, but instead of the Oculus starting back up by itself, you have to wait for a few seconds, before turning it back on.

Turning off your headset gives it time to reset if it’s currently having some trouble starting up properly. This is a common troubleshooting tip for most Oculus devices that are having software problems.

To turn off the headset:

 • 1. Press and hold the power button on the right-hand side of your Oculus until you see the power off-screen.
 • 2. Now select Restart on the screen until your Oculus turns back on.

If you’re still seeing the No Command message on the screen, move on to the next solution.

Update Oculus Software

If your Oculus hasn’t been updated in a while, this can cause a lot of problems to arise. When a Meta Quest 2 hasn’t been updated to a recent software update, this means that it is vulnerable to bugs and glitches.

This is because Oculus software updates clean up and patched vulnerabilities users have been reporting and complaining about.

It could be that Oculus has addressed this No Command with a recent update, but you haven’t taken advantage of it due to your device running on older software.

To Check For a Software Update:

 1. Press on the Meta button on your right touch controller
 2. Select Quick Settings when it appears to open the Quick Settings panel by hovering over the clock Icon.
 3. Click on the Settings Icon in the top right corner
 4. Select Systems, then Software Update to check for an update.

Factory Reset

Factory resetting your Quest device should be your last resort if nothing else has seemed to work in getting out of this screen.

Factory resetting will erase any content you have on the headset, essentially putting it back to how it was when you first purchased it.

This may be beneficial to you as there could be a whole host of reasons causing this problem. So wiping everything on the device should troubleshooting and get rid of whatever is causing it.

Keep in mind that it will wipe all the data on your device, however, this is the trade-off for corrupted software getting wiped too.

To Factory Reset Your Oculus:

 1. Open the Oculus app on your phone.
 2. Click Devices in the bottom menu.
 3. Choose the headset connected to your phone.
 4. Select Advanced Settings.
 5. Click on Factory Reset
 6. Press Reset.

Plug it in

Simply plugging your Oculus device using the charging cable and a rocket seemed to get rid of the problem for most users.

For whatever reason, Charging the device starts it up and gets it out of the No Command screen.

This may be because when you plug in your device and begin to charge it, it forces something else to show up on the screen.

Plug it in using the charging cable and see if that does anything. If it doesn’t, wait till it’s fully charged and then try again.

Contact Support

If you are still having trouble with getting this “Command” message on your screen, your last resort would be to contact the Oculus support team.

They are directly involved with how to fix issues like this and will be able to help you in fixing this one.

To reach Oculus, go to the Meta Support page and enter your details.

Put your information in the boxes provided and then click on the “Start Chat with Agent” button. Make sure to provide as much detail as possible and let the know the methods you have already tried.

My Final Thoughts

In most cases, the “No Command” error stems from a fairly harmless software glitch or bug.

By applying the solution mentioned above like manually rebooting, updating software, factory resetting as a last resort, or contacting support, you can typically resolve the issue.

Don’t panic if you see the “No Command” screen on your Oculus it doesn’t mean something is wrong with the headset. You just need to try a few of the steps I’ve mentioned to get rid of it.

For whatever reason, Oculus developers haven’t gotten around to addressing the problem. We’d have to hope we don’t see it in the new Quest 3.
